Lorena García — Urban Portrait Study in Central Park investigates the relationship between controlled direction and an uncontrolled environment.

Unlike studio-based work, the series relies on available light and shifting surroundings, using the city as an active element rather than a backdrop. The images are constructed through contrast — defined posture against organic movement, intention against randomness.

Composition is guided by the interaction between subject and space, where architecture, foliage, and light transitions introduce variation across frames. These elements create a dynamic tension, reinforcing the presence of the subject within a living environment.

Lorena García’s direction remains minimal, allowing subtle changes in body position and gaze to anchor the image amid external movement. This restraint keeps the focus on form while acknowledging the unpredictability of the setting.

The series situates portraiture outside controlled conditions, exploring how presence holds within spaces that are constantly shifting.
